As the high school winter sports season picks up, athletes from across the Eugene-Springfield region have continued to deliver outstanding performances.

Each week you can vote for the Register-Guard’s Athlete of the Week, sponsored by Active Chiropractic.

Brody Buzzard, wrestling in Harrisburg

Harrisburg senior Brody Buzzard won the 285-pound division Jan. 6 to cap the Class 3A Eagles’ dual victory over Class 6A West Linn.

Buzzard, a three-time state champion, pinned Ronan Crawford of West Linn.

Ambrose Gardner, Willamette basketball

Willamette sophomore guard Ambrose Gardner scored 24 points on Jan. 8 to lead the Wolverines to an 84-60 road victory over Roseburg.

Gianni Lombardi, Marist Catholic basketball player

Marist Catholic senior forward Gianni Lombardi scored 15 points, grabbed eight rebounds and buried two crucial free throws late in the game Jan. 8 to lead the Spartans to a 45-44 road victory over Stayton.

Dallen Morgan, North Eugene basketball

North Eugene senior guard Dallen Morgan scored 20 points and made 6 of 13 from 3-point range on Jan. 6 to help the Highlanders earn a 101-51 home victory over Roseburg.

Calvin Yoder, South Eugene basketball

South Eugene senior guard Calvin Yoder scored 18 points Jan. 3 to help the Ax earn a 73-60 road victory over Sprague.
