Tuesday, during the ACC Tip-Off – the conference Annual Media Day in Charlotte — the name Georgia Amoore came up often, and for good reason. Amoore, a Virginia Tech guard entering her fourth season, is coming off a year in which she was named ACC Tournament MVP and Seattle 3 Regional MVP. She also broke the Hokies’ program record for career assists last season and set the mark for most 3-pointers made in a single season as Virginia Tech advanced to its first-ever Final Four.
And the actors around the ACC took Amoore skills review. North Carolina’s Deja Kelly recognized Amoore’s talents when they were both on Kelsey Plum’s “Dawg Class” in April. Plum taught the players different footwork techniques and Amoore executed a step-back with relative ease. Kelly turned to her and said, “Listen, you better not bring that out when you’re being played.”
Amoore received votes for a spot on the preseason AP All-American team that was released earlier this week. On November 9 in Charlotte, she will face the team’s only unanimous selection, Caitlin Clark. And later this month, she and Virginia Tech get another chance at LSU.
A handful of players named the 5-foot-6 Australian guard as the best player in the league when polled by For victory on a variety of topics Tuesday at the ACC Tip-Off. And Kelly’s name also came up as players talked about the best scorers, the best arenas, the worst locker rooms, basketball films and pregame meals.

- Latson: “I would say Virginia. Virginia has a pretty good one.
- C. King: “NC State. One, because it’s near us, but two, because it’s really nice. And I think having the fans so close makes it a fun arena to play in and they always sell out.
- Morgan: “Personally, FSU, because I’m from Tallahassee. »
- Lacey: “Louisville. It’s usually crowded and very noisy. It’s a big gym and it feels like you’re center stage and the lights go on and off. It’s a great environment.
- Kaia Harrison, Wake Forest: “NC State, because they have their own women’s basketball arena and that makes the environment a lot better. They have some pretty tough fans.
- Wood: “I love Louisville, I really do. Their seats give a cinema atmosphere.
- Reigan Richardson, Duke: “I probably say Caroline. I just like their atmosphere.
- Washenitz: “Louisville was so much fun. »

- Latson: “UNC. It’s like playing in space. I just don’t like it.
- C. King: “Syracuse. Personally, being a 3-point shooter playing in a football stadium, depth perception throws me off from time to time. And traveling there in January isn’t the most fun.
- Morgan: “Wake Forest. »
- Lacey: “Duke. It’s small and reminds me of my high school gym where the bleachers are right behind you.
- Harrison: “Louisville. They have a lot of fans and there is a lot of noise.
- Wood: “Honestly, FSU. »
- Washenitz: “Syracuse.”
- L. King: “Syracuse, just because it’s oddly positioned in a football dome. »

- C. King: “I stay pretty basic. I just eat buttered noodles and a baked potato with sour cream.
- Morgan: “Salmon, pasta, a vegetable – and if I don’t have pasta, then potatoes. »
- Lacey: “A good garden salad with grilled chicken. I love salad and I love chicken, and I’ll add cucumbers, carrots, peppers. It is really good.”

- Richardson: “Tacos or pasta. »
- Washenitz: “Carbohydrates, like some pastas. »
- L. King: “I really like eating pasta. I think it just helps give me energy. I don’t know, maybe it’s something I tell myself. But I really like pasta with chicken, and you know, throwing some veggies in there somewhere. And then I also like to have some kind of bread.

- Latson: “Stream us some more. Stream us like guys. I feel like it’s really important to us. Take us there.
- C. King: “As much as they can, just try to bring more games to ESPN. We were lucky and we have six or seven this year. I think if you make more games readily available – because sometimes they’re on (ACC Network Extra), which even my family can’t find what channel they’re on – but I think if you put them out there and make Things that are easy to watch, people will watch.
- Morgan: “Broadcast it on more major channels. ESPN and all that. It will help, for sure.
- Lacey: “Advertise more. Once people put women’s basketball on the map, it’s hard to ignore. Like this year’s national championship game, there were so many views and streamers, the most ever, because people hyped it so much… Put the spotlight on women’s basketball, that It’s not boring, just take the time to watch it and you’ll understand why it’s so exciting.
- Harrison: “I think they’ve already done a lot to improve it and I think it continues to grow as we speak. I mean, last year’s March Madness is just one example.
- Wood: “Men have shoes, they have this, they have that, everything. For women, you don’t get hands on it, but people aren’t as involved in the process. Little things matter…I feel like investing in us is truly the biggest thing the NCAA can do for us.
- Richardson: “I feel like the NCAA can do a lot more publicity for women’s sports. »
- Washenitz: “I think the NCAA should get better at just giving men equal opportunities, from a television perspective. I know men are a bit more preferred when it comes to spending time on television.
