Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Rondale Moore died Saturday February 21.

Moore’s death has been confirmed at the Louisville Courier Journal ― part of the USA TODAY network ― by Matthew Tomlin, coroner of Floyd County (Indiana). Moore was 25 years old.

The cause of his death is still under investigation, according to Tomlin.

USA TODAY Sports has contacted the Vikings for comment.

Jeff Brohm, Moore’s coach at Purdue, confirmed the news of Moore’s death Saturday with a social media post on his personal X (formerly Twitter) account.

“Rondale Moore was an absolute pleasure to coach. The ultimate competitor who would never back down from any challenge,” Brohm said in his message. “Rondale had an unmatched work ethic. A great teammate who would thrive in any situation. We all loved Rondale and loved his smile and competitive spirit that always wanted to please everyone he came in contact with.

“We offer all our thoughts and prayers to Rondale and his family and we love him very much.”

Moore played at Purdue from 2018-2020 before becoming a second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. Moore spent the 2025 season with the Vikings, but missed the entire season after suffering a season-ending knee injury in the 2025 preseason opener.

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Hollywood Brown, who played with Moore in 2022-23 at Arizona, said he messaged Moore “a few hours ago” in a post Saturday.

This story will be updated.
