Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss revealed Sunday, first on social media and then on ESPN, “NFL Countdown”, as he battles a serious health problem and urges his peers to get medical exams.

“Throughout the holiday week, your boy was struggling with something internal,” Moss said. said in an Instagram video. “And I just ask all the prayer warriors to lay their hands of blessing on me and my family during this difficult time. … I’m fighting something, man, and it’s something internal. Your boy is going to come through this. I’ve got a great team of doctors and I’ve got a great family around me. All you men, man, you’ll get your exams and your blood work done, and we’ll work on it, okay? Thanks for the prayers.”

Moss, 47, echoed the remarks made in his introduction on “Sunday NFL Countdown” while sporting a pair of sunglasses. His comments — and use of glasses — came in response to fans speculating about his condition after video surfaced of Moss recently appearing on ESPN with a yellowish tint to his eyes. Moss did not reveal the specific problem he is recovering from.

ESPN announced Friday that he will now take time off from “Sunday NFL Countdown” to focus on his health.

“Pro Football Hall of Famer Randy Moss will step away from the NFL’s Sunday Countdown for an extended period of time to focus on a personal health challenge. He briefly addressed the issue at the start of the broadcast on December 1. For nearly a decade, Randy has been an invaluable member of the team, consistently elevating the Countdown with his insight and passion. He has the full support of ESPN and we look forward to welcome him back when he is ready.”

His announcement comes six years after his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The ESPN analyst is widely considered one of the best pass catchers to ever play the game. The six-time Pro Bowler, who started with the Minnesota Vikings and later played for the New England Patriotsled the NFL in receiving touchdowns five times, setting the record for single-season receiving scores (23) in 2007. Moss ranks second all-time in career receiving touchdowns (156) and fourth all-time in career receiving yards (15,292).
