Emiliano Martinez (Aston Villa): Wonderful performance. He says 2-0 on the scoresheetbut if you watched the game it felt like Newcastle had the better chances. An xG of 2.18 for Newcastle and they haven’t scored so that’s on him.
(BBC)
Ian Maatsen (Aston Villa): In fact, he’s not a regular. He does so much for Villa with his crossing. He’s not really known for his defense, but I thought he roped in Harvey Barnes and put him in his back pocket.

Ola Aina (Nottingham Forest): The Brentford team he faced are well known for receiving crosses from the wide areas. I think he defended perfectly at the far post Forest win 2-0everything erased. He was good at handling the way people tried to chase him. He also offered a lot for the future.
Marc Guéhi (Manchester City): I know it’s the Wolves, so he gets a little less credit, but go in instantly and get a clean sheetyou just saw the complicity he brings. Lots of pressure on him before a match where they have to win. He comes in and City get their first clean sheet in the Premier League since January 1.
Jorge Cuenca (Fulham): A lot of people talk about Joachim Andersen and his passing range. Cuenca is just steady and goes about his business, but he’s always in control, never out of position – and again against Brighton. Very talented player.
(BBC)
Youri Tielemans (Aston Villa): He was by far the best player on the field. He gradually became Villa’s most important player. He dictates the piece, breaks it down and does everything right. Very, very good player and it pains me to say that as a Birmingham City fan.

Ibrahim Sangaré (Nottingham Forest): I lost him during the CAN and he wasn’t the same midfielder. He’s a pit bull compared to Elliot Anderson; he does all the ugly things and breaks them. A fantastic footballer and part of a strong defensive unit, which Forest obviously needed.
Emiliano Buendia (Aston Villa): Scored some incredible goals, all vital to their team’s attacking outlet. Buendia, to me, just showed that little bit of class and magic. I like to see players take risks.
Patrick Dorgu (Manchester United): He has been incredible since Michael Carrick arrived. This goal in the win at Arsenal was incredible and deserved to win any football match in the world.
Estevao Willian (Chelsea): A young and exciting player, he scored a goal and an assist, but it was against Crystal Palaceso he doesn’t argue as much as the others.
(BBC)
Igor Jesus (Nottingham Forest): On a weekend where the strikers weren’t great, he was solid and Forest had two that ended up scoring. He fights and does all the ugly things well, and then he has this little flair for achieving his goal.
(BBC)
Nuno Espirito Santo (West Ham): A 3-1 victory against Sunderland is huge – it gives West Ham a chance to stay up. If you look at Forest’s wins and now Leeds’ draw, West Ham would have been completely adrift. They are now giving themselves a chance to get out of it. He gets that thanks to the biggest win of the weekend.
