FSU football prepares for its home game against the Duke Blue Devils Saturday evening.
The game will be televised on ABC where many people will tune in to see the Seminoles in action.
Uniform suits are definitely a topic of discussion worth mentioning. Although I’m quite biased, I believe the Florida State Seminoles’ garnet and gold color scheme is one of the best in all of college football.
However, I realize that a variety of high school prospects as well as the younger generation of fans would probably like to see the Seminoles move away from their traditional uniforms from time to time.
On Thursday evening, Duke announced that they would wear their all-white uniforms, consisting of white helmets, white jerseys and white pants. This made me wonder what the Seminoles would do in terms of personal uniform combination for the game.
While the Florida State social media account doesn’t typically post information about uniform combinations until game day, we could have some fun and speculate on what that might be.
In my personal opinion, I would like to see FSU stick with their traditional uniforms. But let’s take a look back at what the Seminoles won in their previous home games against the Blue Devils:
• 2004: golden helmets, garnet jerseys and garnet pants
• 2007: gold helmets, black jerseys and black pants
•2012: golden helmets, garnet jerseys and golden pants
• 2020: golden helmets, black jerseys and garnet pants
When Florida State revealed its new uniform designs during the 2023 spring showcase, they only included maroon and white jerseys. No black jerseys were included at the unveiling.
The Seminoles wore gold helmets, maroon jerseys and maroon pants in their 41-3 victory over Syracuse. They have only worn the traditional garnet and gold uniform combination twice this season (when they faced Virginia Tech at home and LSU in a neutral site game).
It would certainly make more sense for Florida State to wear the traditional uniforms given that this is a prime time ABC game with many people watching. I’ll side with the Seminoles by sticking with this combination (gold helmets, garnet jerseys and gold pants).
