The Super Bowl marks the official end of the 2025 NFL season, with the National Football League wrapping up its biggest event of the year. Now that that’s in the rearview mirror, all eyes turn to NASCAR with the regular season beginning Sunday at the 68th running of the Daytona 500, its biggest event of the year.

How many drivers are there in the Daytona 500?

There are 44 drivers on the Daytona 500 entry list for Sunday’s race. Jimmie Johnson, driving the No. 84 for Legacy Motor Club, will enter the race on an open provisional exemption. There are nine non-chartered cars competing for places on the starting grid.

How many laps is the Daytona 500?

There are 200 laps in the Daytona 500, covering a total of 500 miles at Daytona International Speedway. Stages 1 and 2 last 65 laps and the last stage lasts 70 laps.

Who won the Daytona 500 last year?

William Byron won the Daytona 500 last year, winning it for consecutive years. Byron is the first consecutive Daytona 500 winner since Denny Hamlin (2019-2020).
