Boone Jenner(5) and Kirill Marchenko(28) provided the only offense for Columbus, and Daniil Tarasov suffered a 3-2 defeat against Ottawa senators on Saturday.
The Jackets failed against Ottawa on Saturday evening, and their hopes in the playoffs suffered.
With the defeat against the senators, the CBJ fell from the installation of two Joker pots, supplanted by the Montreal Canadians, the second where the clock struck Zeros. But then, later at night, the New York Rangers beat the San Jose Sharks and would jump both Columbus and Montreal, overthrowing the Blue Jackets in another place in the standings. Overall, it was a difficult night for Columbus.
Dean Evason said after the match,"It was a great game. The two teams played hard, played quickly. Admittedly, the beginning was fantastic, the rhythm of the game. Everyone played their butts. We had a lot of chance, certainly in the third period and at the end to link it. It was just a big hockey game that we fell a bit short."
Zach Werenski added,"I thought we were playing hard. I thought it was a fairly uniform game for the most part. We would probably like to go back a few minutes in the second where I thought we did not get to our game, but it’s a good team. I liked our efforts."
The jackets are now 33-30-9 with 75 points.
