Arsenal Star Bukayo Saka suffered a knock to his ankle during Wednesday’s win over Sevilla.sparking concerns he could miss the Gunners’ Premier League game this weekend.
Saka was substituted in the 85th minute of the Champions League clash after landing awkwardly on your ankle. The Englishman had played a club record 87 successive top-flight matches for Arsenal, before suffering a muscle problem last month.
Speaking after the Sevilla game, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta suggested Saka’s injury was not serious.
“In the end, he wasn’t comfortable continuing. I hope it’s not too much but I’m really happy with his performance. Arteta said.
“It was just a kick and the physios told me on the radio that he wasn’t happy to continue. So he will have some discomfort but I hope I’m going to assume he’ll be fine.”
Will Martin Odegaard and Eddie Nketiah play against Burnley?
The Gunners return to the Premier League on Saturday for the visit of Burnley, who have just won one of their first 11 league matches. Arsenal should bounce back from last weekend defeat against Newcastle Unitedbut this could be done without other key players.
Captain Martin Odegaard was absent for the trip to Newcastle and is doubtful for the Burnley clash. Likewise Eddie Nketiah could also miss after taking a knock during the Newcastle game.
After Sevilla’s win, Mikel Arteta admitted he was I don’t know if Odegaard and Nketiah will return in time for Saturday’s game.
“They race against time to get in shape,” he explained.
“They tried their best to be here today with us, it wasn’t possible and we still have 48 hours before we play Burnley. We will try again and see because we need players at the moment.
Arsenal should also be deprived Gabriel Jesus And Thomas Partey, both of whom were injured last month. The Gunners still have a few more games left until the international break in November; a chance for Arteta’s depleted squad to regroup after suffering a series of injuries.
