LSU women’s college basketball star Angel Resse gave fans a vague update amid her absence from their game against Southeast Louisiana.
The 21-year-old and last season’s MVP NCAA women’s basketball Tournament took to social media Thursday, sharing a photo taken from inside an empty LSU practice field.
Resse was on the bench Tuesday in the second half of their game against Kent State.
However, LSU Coach Kim Mulkey attempted to defuse the situation after the game, calling it a “coach’s decision” and offering no further details.
And on Friday, Resse wasn’t with the team as the Tigers beat Southeast Louisiana with a 73-50 victory.
Mulkey addressed the situation during his postgame press conference Friday night and didn’t offer much transparency on the subject.
“Want me to explain why? It’s very obvious that Angel was not in uniform.
“Angel is on this basketball team and we hope to see her as soon as possible,” Mulkey said.
The situation remains unclear, but Resse appears to remain active and training.
She posted a photo on her Instagram Story of an empty LSU practice field with a cart of basketballs inside.
Also felt posted a series of photos on TikTok Friday in a message to her boyfriend, Florida State basketball player Cam’ron Fletcher.
She captioned the post with a heartfelt message and hinted at the pressures she was feeling.
“They can say whatever they want about you, but I know you’re the realist on my team.
“Friends for 6 years and now 6 months of relationship. Thank you for being there during the light and dark of my life.
“You keep me sane and being my peace is what I’ve always looked to you for.
“Knowing that I carry the weight of the world on my shoulders and that every day is not easy for me, you always make sure that I am okay,” Resse wrote.
LSU opened the season ranked first, but was upset in its first game, 92-78 against Colorado.
Despite the loss, LSU won four straight games and Reese still posted solid numbers, averaging 17 points and 10.3 rebounds in four games.
