The legendary tennis player and defender of social equality Billie Jean King received a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame.
King, 81, is the first woman to have the honor of the new category of sports entertainment.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame was previously reserved for cinema, television, radio, theater and music stars.
“The important thing is that I don’t want to be the last,” said King.
“My family loved music and movies. My mother would have loved it.”
His star is the 2,807th to be installed on the Walk of Fame, which started in 1960 and takes place along the Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street in Los Angeles.
