Lyon, leader of the First League, achieves a double against PSG at the Parc des Princes

In what was the first women’s match played at the Parc des Princes this season, Lyon increased their lead in the standings over their rivals with a convincing 2-0 victory in which the hosts had few chances to get back into the lead. match.

While little is at stake overall, given the title is ultimately decided in the end-of-season play-offs, the clashes between the two powerhouses of women’s football remain a strong indicator of the league’s momentum. With Les Fenottes Unbeaten against the Parisians since 2022, the hosts hoped the feeling of the occasion and a record crowd could work in their favor.

Joe Montemurro’s team, however, wasted no time in asserting their authority on the game. Haitian striker Melchie Dumornay converted from close range after seven minutes, taking advantage of a poor clearance from Sakina Karchaoui. Lyon then doubled their lead on the half hour mark, with Dumornay this time scrambling for Kadidiatou Diani to finish past a helpless Mary Earps, after an overhand ball from Lindsey Horan.

Despite a stronger start to the second half, the hosts ultimately failed to create any clear-cut chances to threaten Lyon’s two-goal lead. With their second defeat in the league, PSG find themselves demoted to third place behind their Parisian rivals, Paris FC, who beat Guingamp 6-0 earlier in the day. The evening’s visitors, meanwhile, hardly broke a sweat as they increased their lead to seven points – although it could all be for naught if they fail to replicate this form in the spring play-offs.
