College football has always had a way of zigzagging when we all think it’s going to zigzag. There’s a good chance one of those zigzags will take place Saturday in Orlando between Oklahoma State and UCF football.
UCF has had a rough first season in the Big 12, to say the least. Prior to last week’s win over Cincinnati, the Knights had lost five straight conference games, and they still enter this week with a losing record and no victory against a Big 12 holder.
Oklahoma State, meanwhile, is playing as well as it could. After a rough 2-2 start, the 15th-ranked Cowboys have reeled off five straight victories, capped by a thrilling win over Oklahoma in Bedlam a week ago.
Mike Gundy’s team has been consistent at quarterback, while Gus Malzahn has dealt with injuries and inconsistent play at the position. Up and down the stat sheets and roster, the trend continues.
