Moritz Seider blogs for NHL.com during the 2023 NHL Global Series presented at Fastenal. In his first entry, the Detroit Red Wings defenseman talks about Saturday’s 5-4 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets before flying from Detroit to Stockholm late Saturday night, and his plans for the special trip that will see the Red Wings face Ottawa. Senators on Thursday and Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday.

Our trip here was surprisingly good. We’ve beaten the time change and beaten the clock as of now, but I think it will hit us in a few hours and then we’ll just try to stay awake and get some sleep through the night. Hopefully we will have some good time tomorrow to reset, adjust and prepare for Thursday.

Lucas Raymond and I slept the entire flight. We had dinner right after takeoff and woke up with breakfast in our face the next morning, so that was pretty good. I think it was some kind of salmon and just a classic breakfast with scrambled eggs and pancakes.

It usually doesn’t take me long to fall asleep and I’ve been lucky enough to sleep through the night, which is pretty rare. I think it would have been a bit depressing if we had lost that game on Saturday, so we were really happy with the result and obviously we have a big challenge here to achieve what I think everyone is looking forward to and certainly something to build. of a victory.

As for city projects, I’m a complete passenger. Just buckle up and wherever we go, we go, and I can’t wait to see the city.

It’s going to be huge and it’s definitely going to be a good balance because we don’t want to take that for granted. First of all, I think it’s a huge honor for us, especially considering the history of this club and representing all the Swedes who have played here and the icons of this organization.

But aside from that, we also have a job to do here: win hockey games against very good opponents. So I think we will be prepared for Thursday and Friday and it will be a good fight.
