Morgan Shaw Parker, ’99, president and COO of the WNBA’s Atlanta Dream, and Candy Marshall, ’80, senior advisor of TheDream.US, will deliver the lecture “Women Lead: Shattering Glass Ceilings” on March 1 at Nebraska Innovation. Campus. They are joined by Arin N. Reeves, author, founder and CEO of Nextions and founder of the JEDI Collective, who will moderate a plenary session.

The third collaborative conference between the College of Business and the College of Law at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln since 2020, Women Lead advances women in law, business, philanthropy and government. A range of inspiring leaders will share their personal leadership moments and lead breakout sessions. The conference is open to anyone interested in the advancement of women.

“Women Lead creates a space where women can learn from each other and grow their networks. This event is sold out, a direct result of our generous sponsors’ investment and our speakers’ contributions of time and expertise,” said Molly Brummond, ’00 & ’03, co-creator of Women Lead and assistant dean for student development and chief of staff for the School of Law. “The conference will help participants develop the skills they need and inspire them to break their own glass ceiling, whatever that means for them.” »

Women Lead began as a College of Law initiative to provide training and networking for women lawyers and an effort by the College of Business to provide development and connections for business professionals. The partnership between planning teams, ideas and energy led to “Women Lead 2020: Claim Your Power,” which sparked a sold-out event in less than two months. This was followed by “Women Lead 2022: Leading Through Change,” with a new slate of speakers and topics and another packed house at Innovation Campus.

“Our goal is to provide an engaging, inspiring and supportive experience to share, learn and connect. We are grateful to our inspiring, brilliant and courageous speakers, sponsors and presenters for Women Lead 2024 – and we will have even more women-owned businesses exhibiting this year. We are also grateful for the immense support of our college deans and staff because they are the ones who make the magic happen. All are welcome and participants should come for in-depth learning and networking and leave with renewed energy and the support of new friends,” said Sheri Irwin-Gish, ’03, co-creator of Women Lead and executive director of communications , marketing and external relations. at the College of Commerce.

Women’s primary sponsors currently included Husch Blackwell, Rembolt Ludtke, Baylor Evnen and Cline Williams. If you are interested in sponsoring, please contact Brummond at [email protected] or Irwin-Gish at [email protected].
