Alyssa Thomas and Dewanna Bonner created a dynamic duo in the WNBA while playing for Connecticut Sun.
The two completed on and off the field during the five years with the sun, engaging in 2023.
Thomas was square by the sun, this offseason, which means that the free agent without restriction could only leave the organization through trade. When Thomas signed to head to Phoenix, he was hypothesized that Bonner would have a full circle moment to return to the franchise that drafted him in 2009 with his fiancée. Instead, Bonner signed with Indiana fever and will find the former coach of Sun Stephanie White, join the superstar Caitlin Clark.
The two players clearly indicated that they focused on their own career, even if it means playing 1,700 miles from each other.
“We are both two different players,” said Thomas. “We approached this free agency because we both have our own career, so its decision was its decision, and mine was mine.
“Anyway, we support each other at most.”
The couple played against each other in the star match in 2024 in Phoenix when Thomas represented the American team and Bonner was in the WNBA team.

Even if Bonner chose not to return to Phoenix, she gave Thomas a start on what to expect from Phoenix.
“She talked so much about this organization,” said Thomas. “She spent 10 years here, so she knows so much about the region.
“I had an intensive course on this organization and she talks so much about the base of fans and everyone here. I am really excited to live it.
