This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

The community has had a lot of discussion about what they want to see in College Football EA Sports whenever it finally comes out. It is a nice threadand definitely keep adding to it. I thought this might be a fun topic to highlight since we’re going to be in this quiet part of the development cycle for a while. On top of that, I’ve written everything I can so far about the EA college football game. here And hereand I am therefore now awaiting substantial legal or development updates before writing further.

With that in mind, I’m just going to highlight some of the answers given on the forums and let you all use them from there.

What features do you want to see in EA Sports College Football?

From TarHeelPhenom to start the thread:

I know it’s early; but i’m so excited my mind is racing lol. What features do you hope to have in the game? In my opinion:

1) Fully functional Dynasty Mode with recruitment. Hopefully they are looking to partner with 247 Sports for recruiting.

2) Personalization. I don’t care even if I can’t change the appearance of the players (skin color, etc.). If I play long enough they will generate anyway. Let me just change the attributes.

3) Something equivalent to Superstar XFactor which allows All-American players to stand out.

4) Flexible playoffs (4,8,12 or 16).

5) The collegiate style of RPO play

6) Herbie and Fowler’s Play by Play Team with Maria Taylor

EA Sports College Football Legal FAQ

cannes21 focuses more on Dynasty mode and the adjustments he would like there:

No more fog of war under the dynasty. Scouting reports on recruits are not omniscient and can be potentially inaccurate.

Recruits’ interests are more vague, so I don’t know if I’m 1,000 points ahead of another school. I prefer the rookie to tell me that I am the favorite and that I should trust him.

Silent commitments.

Disengagements and reversals.

Signing day surprises and some signing day showcases for a handful of top recruits.

Dynasty mode resources that you use to pay for the new full sticks. Hire position coaches who have attributes in coaching, development, recruiting, etc. Ability to invest money in a strength and conditioning staff. Money for the recruiting budget. Money for facilities. Money for etc.

Give me that with solid AI and I’ll be a happy camper.

Revamped mod for college football

Arkavian focuses on team size, which is always a hot topic in EA’s soccer games:

85-man rosters would be good. It would also be nice to have red shirts for injuries.

The ability to create teams and conferences if not all teams are included. Plus, a decent stadium builder would be killer. I think Madden 2005 had this feature built into the game when you could start a new franchise if I remember correctly.

EA Sports College Football Legal FAQ

KSUowls focuses on a similar theme of making sure Dynasty mode is rich in depth:

Recruiting depth and coaching staff depth are the main things I want to see.

Recruiting – I don’t want to see anything remotely resembling the point allocation system from NCAA 14. I also want it to be a bit more streamlined than the old call and pitch mini-game which was rather tedious.
Maybe take some notes from College Hoops 2k8, where you send yourself or an assistant to contact a recruit. But then, instead of just an increase in general interest, get some sort of report on the conversation.
How did the child react to the coach in question (charisma matters)
Comments on likes/dislikes like playing time, big schedule, etc… but these comments always have a fog of war aspect.

Coaching Depth – Full coaching staff down to position coaches, or at minimum coordinators for offense, defense and special teams. No cheating system like NCAA 14, instead has real attributes for coaches and makes them important. Game planning, motivation, charisma, discipline, etc… as well as the attributes of different position groups that impact a player’s development.

Finally, and this is probably the biggest ask, just give me a game that is as realistic as possible on the field. No stupid/overpowered impact players like in Madden, no robo qbs or broken read options, etc…

Give me these 3 things, and everything else is just a bonus.

college football outing

Lately, Kingd803 has some ideas on how to separate college athletes from professional athletes:

I think what’s important about college athletes compared to the professional game is the uniqueness of the players. There are so many more players. Many college players stand out because of their unique playing style or big personality.

So what I would like to see is some unique animations for the posts. So when you’re searching, you’ll need to think about more than just notes.

For example: for QBs, maybe we could have different throwing styles. A prototypical throwing style. A guy who throws away textbooks. He is someone who has very solid mechanics. Gunslinger is someone who has a huge arm. Puts everything he has into the throws. Think Marino or Favre. This animation could be rarer. And unconventional. Maybe he’s a dual-threat guy. Who doesn’t have manual mechanics. He may need work to be a good passer.

For running backs, you might have guys running low and behind their pads. They are more difficult to bring down. Against a guy who runs straighter.

And of course we need a good customization suite. Let’s change some faces. Nothing crazy but at least a basic editor. And change hairstyles and hair colors. I want to feel connected to my guys.

I would also like to see a Heisman presentation show. At least something as good as the PS2 days. And I would love to see a college game day type pregame show. I remember this board asking this every year.

There is absolutely no reason why this game shouldn’t be one of the best sports games ever made. They don’t have a release date. The need to put everything they have into this game.

Thanks everyone for all the great suggestions, and it’s always nice to see forum members build on and add to each other’s ideas. Keep it up !
