First, it was the Ohio State tight end Jelani Thurman who pledged her verbal commitment to the program. He spent three seasons with Ohio State, catching 13 passes for 144 yards and two touchdowns. He committed to North Carolina as one of the top 120 recruits in the country.
Thurman played in a fairly busy offense at Ohio Stateso opportunities were hard to come by. But now he has a chance to come in and make an impact at North Carolina.
Hours after Thurman committed, UNC also landed another tight end. Former Texas tight end Jordan Washington who spent two seasons with the Longhorns. He spent two seasons Texasappearing in nine games with two starts. He caught seven passes for 109 yards and a touchdown.
For the Tar Heels, they are looking to rebuild their offense under new coordinator Bobby Petrino. UNC’s offense was among the worst in college football last year, forcing the program to move on from Freddie Kitchens. Adding pieces like this, along with two new quarterbacks, is a good start to the rebuild.
