As the alert draws closer and Hokie Nation’s excitement about returning to Cassell Coliseum intensifies, game promotions and theme days have been announced for the team’s upcoming 2022-23 campaign Virginia Tech women’s basketball team.
The Hokies will enter the season ranked 13th nationally, the program’s highest ranking ever in the preseason AP Top 25 poll. Tech returns the reigning ACC Player of the Year Elizabeth Kitley with remarkable guards Georgia Amoore, King Cayla And Kayana Traylorand welcomes impact transfers Ashley Owusu And Taylor Soulé to form one of the most talented teams in the country.
Subscriptions are still available for as little as $80 for adults and $35 for youth. The Hokies will play a number of marquee home games this season, highlighted by games against Notre Dame, North Carolina, Louisville, NC State and Nebraska, as they strive for a third straight trip in the NCAA tournament.
There will be many exciting themes, promotions and halftime acts for fans to experience at Cassell Coliseum this season. The program includes several themed games such as Military Appreciation Night, Special Olympics Day, Autism Awareness Day, Frozen Night, National Girls and Women in Sports Day and much more . Talented halftime performers include Jeff Wright’s Flying Houndz, Mutts Gone Nuts, hula hoop dancer Grace Good and all-male a cappella group Juxtaposition, to name a few.
Color-specific games are also planned for this season, including a Black Out against Syracuse and a Maroon Out against Duke in partnership with the Virginia Tech Undergraduate Student Senate, as well as an Orange Out against NC State.
