Arch Manning’s blind side is covered during a critical season.
As the Texas Longhorns prepare for a 2026 campaign that head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff hope will see the Longhorns not only return to the College Football Playoff, but compete for and win a national championship behind their star quarterback, Saturday’s latest news that redshirt junior left tackle Trevor Goosby will return for a fourth season on the Forty Acres is monumental news.

First reported by Kirk Bohls of the Houston Chronicle and quickly confirmed by other media outlets in early January, Goosby’s return provides stability at one of the most important positions in football and offers the big tackle a chance to spend a year on the Forty Acres with his younger brother, Austin, a consensus five-star combo who signed with the Longhorns in November.
On Sunday, Goosby confirmed the news on his Instagram account.
Goosby’s decision comes despite favorable projections in the 2026 NFL Draft following a first-team All-SEC season, his first as a full-time starter, in which he excelled as a run blocker and pass blocker, allowing just three sacks and three quarterback hurries, according to Pro Football Focus, despite a schedule that included five top-10 opponents.

A high school basketball player, Goosby’s trajectory of physical development was enough to please Texas as a member of the 2023 recruiting class as the Longhorns flipped product Melissa from the Horned Frogs during the 2022 summer.
Listed at 280 pounds coming out of high school, Goosby has been a revelation for Texas – ranked outside the top 400 players and top 25 offensive tackles in the 247Sports Composite rankings, Goosby has gained approximately 30 pounds since arriving at the Forty Acres and represents the first combination of evaluation and development by position coach Kyle Flood during Flood’s tenure at Texas.
If Goosby can stay healthy and simply maintain his level of play from the 2025 season, he should be considered the best offensive tackle in the 2027 NFL Draft.
