The first parts of WNBA free agency started just a few days ago, and Sue Bird has some thoughts on an unexpected player in the mix: Unrivaled.
Yeah. That’s correct. An unmatched level could cause a bit of chaos. While the league is an additional option that players can use during the offseason to keep their skills sharp and stay stateside, it’s hard not to notice the elephant in the room. So many WNBA players are in Miami…from January to March…at the height of WNBA free agency.
Do you see where I’m going with this? Sue Bird recently reinforced the same idea on her One more touch podcast with Megan Rapinoe, and she added a little more color to it. Here’s what she said (See the 28:20 mark of the YouTube video below.):
“Oh my God. There are going to be so many super teams formed in Unrivaled. The WNBA free agency chatter that needs to happen – in the training room, when they go shopping, when they have coffee – needs to be the next level…”
“Now they’re together for about two months during the WNBA free agency period. So the level of recruiting, I can only imagine.”
No more WNBA!
