Brian Schottenheimer, the son of legendary coach Marty, was appointed head coach of Dallas Cowboys.
Schottenheimer was promoted to replace Mike McCarthy, who Leaving the cowboys After five years of responsibility earlier this month.
The 51-year-old man has no experience as a head coach, but has been working in various roles in NFL teams for over 25 years.
Schottenheimer has spent the last three seasons at Cowboys under McCarthy, who was supervised by his father Marty before his death in 2021.
Marty won 200 regular season victories over the age of 21 as a head coach with Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Commanders and San Diego loaders.
The Cowboys will present Schotenheimer as a head coach at a press conference on Monday.
The offensive coordinator of the Eagles of Philadelphia, Kellen Moore, who worked under McCarthy in cowboys before being replaced by Schottenheimer, was also interviewed for the role.
“Schottenheimer wasted the much longer CV of the global coaching experience between the two, despite his calls to Dallas during the McCarthy era,” read a Cowboys declaration.
He became the 10th cowboys head coach and the ninth since the owner Jerry Jones took over in 1989.
Raiders call Carroll as a chief coach
Las Vegas Raiders have appointed Pete Carroll, 73, their head coach.
Carroll begins his 31st season in the NFL and recently spent 14 years as Seattle Seahawks coach.
He led them to five titles from the western division of the NFC, two NFC championships and their first Super Bowl victory in 2014.
