The Athletic’s Sam Amick joined “The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross” on Tuesday to break down the results of the anonymous 2024 NBA player poll.
Launched in 2019, the poll gives readers insight into the league from the men who take the field night after night. From March 5 to April 11, The Athletic interviewed 142 players to get their thoughts on everything from most overrated to MVP to commissioner and referee ratings.
“That’s the fun thing, you can read a lot of players’ minds and they share truths that we wouldn’t otherwise know,” Sam told Dave and Jason. “It’s the nuance of the questions, like, the best defender is just who do you think is obviously the most intimidating and impactful defensive player? And it was crazy to see that it was like, damn, Victor (Wembanyama) ever had support from the league like that?
Additional topics covered include:
- The unexpected highlight of the player poll
- Rudy Gobert voted most overrated player
- At least one or two players thought the Sacramento Kings could be NBA champions this season
- Malik Monk’s free agency
- What is Klay Thompson’s market value?
- Which Kings players made the list
