Golfer Brandon Robinson-Thompson set a record record of 61 and took a three-stroke lead in the first round of the Bahrain Championships.
From the island of Wight, Robinson-Thompson participated in his first season of the DP World Tour and was delighted with his departure in Bahrain.
“I did not imagine this result this morning when it was raining and there were forecasts of strong winds”, Robinson-Thompson said at DP World Tour.
“I was very happy to leave at the start that I made, it was an accumulation of many good decisions, of execution, and I did a lot of put.
“It was not perfect but I was intelligent when I had to be, there is a little bitter taste in my mouth because of the end but I hold my right part.”
The 32 -year -old man came to a touching distance from the breakdown of a tour record established by Oliver Fisher, who became the first player in the European tour to shoot a 59 -year -old round, in Portugal Masters 2018.
Through the first 17 holes, Robinson-Thompson recorded eight birdies and two eagles to put on 56 stokes and need a birdie to match the record in the last hole.
The Briton then stuck the 18th hole, finishing the frustrating tour despite a better career score.
“It must be my first or second best round of all time,” he added.
“This is my lowest turn as a professional, I’m almost sure. I will do a lot of the same things in the future.
“I work with a new shopping cart right now and it is great, we get along well and we are talking about everything. We will have a lot of fun. I can’t wait to be there.”
