There is one hobby the royal couple can’t agree on, however, with Princess Kate sharing The good, the bad and rugby podcast that she and Prince William are polar opposites on the subject of swimming.
“Personally, I love swimming. Swimming in cold water, the colder (the water), the better,” the Princess of Wales told Mike Tindall, before revealing: “I love it. It’s kind of to the point where William says ‘you.’ “I’m crazy,” she added with a laugh. “It’s dark and raining and I’m looking for cold water.
“I love it, but I wouldn’t want to be put to the test in a freezing, sub-zero ice bath,” the royal warned. Mike Tindall added that he often worries before meeting the Prince and Princess of Wales, explaining: “When we all get together I know she will make me do something.”
The mother of three shared that she has always been able to withstand cold climates and harsh weather, sharing on the podcast her favorite memory of playing sports as a child.
“I come back from a game of hockey or netball in the freezing rain and I’m like ‘we’re all crazy’, but it’s actually been a lot of fun.”
Princess Kate added that she has been playing the sport since she was little, with her siblings Pippa and James Middleton. “I always remember being physical and using our bodies, climbing in the Lake District or Scotland, swimming from a young age.” Recall Princess Kate’s most active moments below…

What are the benefits of cold water swimming?
Princess Kate’s hobby, teeth chattering, is a good way for the eternally busy royal to manage her stress or anxiety, with an independent medical nutritionist. Dr Sarah Brewer explaining to HELLO! : “Immersion in cold water stimulates endorphins to improve mood and help combat stress, anxiety and depression.”
Explaining how Princess Kate’s hobby helps keep stress in check, Dr Sarah said: “Cold water keeps you in the moment, so it’s the ultimate form of mindfulness. It helps achieve to a calm meditation while you focus on your breathing.”

Ali Phillips, who teaches wild swimming sessions at the Lake District spa Armathwaite Hall explains that cold water therapy gives us a chance to switch off – ideal for Princess Kate.
“Once you’re immersed in cold water, you fully experience that and forget about everything else,” she says.
