Oakland Arena, former home of the Warriors, will host NBA All-Star events originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
A beloved Bay Area sports landmark will once again be home to some of the NBA’s biggest stars.
While the 2025 NBA All-Star Game will take place this season at Chase Center in San Francisco, the Warriors’ former home, Oakland Arena, formerly known as Oracle Arena, will host a number of events over the course of the week before the main event. on February 16 in San Francisco.
The vacant arena across the Bay Bridge will host the Ruffles NBA All-Star Celebrity Game on February 14, as well as the NBA All-Star Practice and the NBA HBCU Classic on February 15.
“We strive to bring as many events as possible to the Bay Area through All-Star…Oakland Arena was a great destination to do that, so we’re excited to be at Chase Center but also Oakland Arena .”, Kelly Flatow, NBA executive vice president of global events, told NBC Sports Bay Area in a recent interview.
Other events, such as the Ultimate Fan Experience and various All-Star concerts, will take place at the Moscone Center and Pier 48 in San Francisco on February 14, in addition to other events for fans in the Bay Area.
“The San Francisco Bay Area is an incredible destination for our fans, for basketball fans of course, but for visitors from all over the world who can come and enjoy all the All-Star activities,” Flatow said. “It’s a global celebration of the game and San Francisco has been host to so many incredible global events as well as the NBA Finals, so we’re really excited to be able to host the NBA All-Star Game 25 years later . in 2025.”
The Warriors officially moved into their new arena in 2019, and in the five years Chase Center has been open, it has hosted numerous high-profile events, concerts and sporting events. However, All-Star Weekend will put more emphasis on the state-of-the-art arena and its surroundings.
“This is a global celebration of our game, so we anticipate fans from all over the world will come to the Bay Area and enjoy all the festivities,” Flatow added. “We’re also striving to be able to celebrate all of our fans in the Bay Area and across the United States. So this will become the epicenter of the basketball world for an entire All-Star week, it’s not just a weekend.”
