Congratulations to the Nneka Ogwumike of Seattle Storm, the first winner four times from the Kim Perrot Sportsmanship Award of the WNBA. Ogwumike previously received the Honor Three-Consutive Seasons (2019-21) as a member of the Los Angeles Sparks.

Appointed to the memory of the late Kim Perrot, member of the first two Houston Comets championship teams before losing his battle against cancer in 1999, the prize is awarded to a player who illustrates ethical behavior, fair play and integrity: the ideals of the sporting spirit on the field. Ogwumike received 18 of the 72 votes, the Saniya rivers from Connecticut Sun arriving in second position with 11 votes. The Naphesesa Collar of Minnesota Lynx and Kayla Thornton of the Golden State Valkyries both obtained seven votes to equalize third.

The Ogwumike approach of the sporting spirit extends beyond 40 minutes of play on hardwood.

As a president of WNBPA, Ogwumike not only leads the struggle for the fairness of the players, but also raises the integrity of her colleagues. The embrace of Ogwumike d’Angel Reese, among others, illustrates its leadership brand, where it supports the rights of players to permanently pursue all their ambitions.

The former and current teammates also expressed their appreciation for Nneka. When he is still a member of the storm, Li Yueru shared his admiration for the example that Ogwumike defines with his professionalism. During the storm exit interviews, Ezi Magebegor also explained how much she appreciated having Ogwumike as a teammate.
