Athens, Ga. (AP) – Asa Newell scored 17 points and won 10 rebounds to conduct Georgia at a 71-60 victory over South Carolina on Tuesday evening.
Georgia (15-6, 3-5 conference in the south-east) broke a skipping of four games while the South Carolina (10-11, 0-8) extended her eight-game defeats.
Dakota Leffew added 14 points for the Bulldogs, who never dragged and fired 51% (26 out of 51) on the ground. Silas Demary Jr. scored 12 points and Dylan James had 10.
Jamarii Thomas scored 16 of his 19 points in the second half to lead the South Carolina. Collin Murray-Boyles added 18 points.
Georgia opened its doors on a 14-3 race and led 35-21 at the break. Demary Jr. scored 10 points in the first half and Newell and James added eight each. 3 Blue Cain points with 4:44 on the left gave the Bulldogs their greatest advance, 63-47, with 4:44 to play.
Georgia is 12-1 at home which includes two-digit victories on Kentucky and Oklahoma classified. His only home loss was against Auburn, 70-68, January 18.
