Paul-Daniel Meyer de Cumberland was appointed male tennis player of the Mid-South conference week, league officials published on Monday.
Meyer, a second -year student in Wolseley, South Africa, delivered a solid performance to the Grizzly Invitational in Lawrenceville, in Georgia, in competition against opponents classified at the national level. He went 2-1 in the simple game and became perfect in double, displaying a 3-0 record alongside partner Daniel Wessels.
In simple, Meyer won three sets against Diego Fernandez by Scad Savannah (5-7, 6-4, 6-4) and Luis Marcos de Cumberlands (6-2, 3-6, 6-0).
Meyer and Wessels were dominant in doubles, winning victories in the three games, including a 6-3 victory against Scad Savannah and a 6-2 victory against Cumberlands, and a 6-4 victory against Notre-Dame du Lac.
This is his first weekly prize for the Mid-South Mid-South conference and the second for a Phoenix player this season by joining Elisey Kalashnikov.
