Glenbrook South alumnus Sydney Willits, who now competes for Iowa State, finished 16th in the long jump at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championships, but jumped to national champion status in 2024 with another performance stunning performance at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday, March 8. a junior, ended up breaking the Iowa state record in the long jump three times on March 8. Fremd junior pitcher Hailey Lucas wasted no time making it known that she would be a force in the circle this season, helping the softball team start the year with a 2-0 record. Triton boys basketball may have to borrow Buffalo Grove Athletic’s slogan, “fight on” after overcoming a 12-point halftime deficit to win the Midwest District title Saturday, March 16. Triton (31-2) trailed 47-35 at halftime against Moberly Area. The Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association (IWCOA) held its annual Freshman/Sophomore (F/S) and Women’s Wrestling Finals on Saturday, March 9 and 10 at the Bank of Springfield Center in Springfield with great success for some local athletes.
