The Chicago Blackhawks have a lot of good young defenders in the organization. They believe that many of them could help them in one way or form or form. One of them is that Kevin Korchinski was a first round choice (7th in total) made by Chicago in 2022.
Korchinski has spent all his season recruited in the NHL. As a defender with an offensive spirit, he scored 5 goals and 10 assists for 15 points in 76 games.
To develop his versatile game, the Hawks have played it especially in the AHL this season. This seems to work because he had a first half worthy of the stars of the AHL.
His defense still needs work, but he scored 2 goals and 16 assists for 18 points through 34 games played. Korchinski also played 9 NHL games this season, he did not record one point but he looked much more comfortable.
In the big stars event, Kevin Korchinski scored the goal winning hunting fire to give the central team the victory. This shootout goal went with a goal and three assists throughout the night for Korchinski.
This effort earned him the MVP of the stars. It is an incredible thing to win at the early stages of a career in professional hockey. He would like to play in the NHL at that time next year, but this experience is ideal for him and his CV.
Now that this is done, Korchinski should be motivated for the rest of the season. He is a good player and has been recognized as the best of the AHL for one night. It’s great to do if you try to go to NHL full time.
