Jimbo Fisher is no longer the coach at Texas A&M, according to an Aggies insider.
The struggling coach with a huge contract is expected to part ways with the Aggies as early as Sunday. The decision was made Thursday and arrived at on the recommendation of the athletic department and the president during a board meeting, Billy Liucci reported.
While the Aggies beat Mississippi State on Saturday, a 6-4 record in its 6th season wasn’t enough to satisfy the College Station leaders.
Fisher failed to show dramatic improvement from last year’s 5-7 season, which followed a disappointing 8-4 season in 2021. His SEC record is 27-21.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported On Sunday, Fisher’s future was discussed at length during an executive session of a Texas A&M board of trustees meeting Thursday. A decision on Fisher’s future is expected in the near future. He will be owed nearly $76 million if he is fired.
Fisher’s job security has been a popular topic due to his massive contract and significant buyout at Texas A&M, where he was a pedestrian 39-21 for 5 seasons.
Fisher hired Bobby Petrino as offensive coordinator this offseason to revive a flagging offense. But the Aggies have dealt with multiple injuries at QB this season and had a spark Saturday as Jaylen Henderson had a big game in his Aggie debut.
Fisher is 45-25 at Texas A&M, after going 83-23 in 8 years at Florida State.
