The Grammy-nominated artist’s song “Get By” is officially the new theme song for ESPN College Football. It means a lot to the Nashville, Tennessee native, who has spent many Saturdays watch world leader tv show to grow.
He recently spoke about the honor on The Pat McAfee Show.
“I always wanted to have the theme song,” Jelly Roll said. “I’m a big football fan. I grew up in the South, Pat. As I’m sure you know, it goes like this: Jesus, football, Lynyrd Skynyrd. In that order. Sometimes it changes; sometimes people put Lynyrd before college or college before Jesus, but that’s just the way it is.”

Jelly Roll is living the dream. He achieved commercial success with the hit singles “Need a Favor” and “Save Me” featuring Lainey Wilson from his critically acclaimed album “Whitsitt Chapel.” In 2023, he won three CMT Music Awards and two Grammy nominations, including Best New Artist and Best Country Duo/Group Performance in February 2024, as his popularity skyrocketed. Jelly Roll then performed at WWE’s SummerSlam event at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
He was even scripted, making a surprise appearance toward the end of the night when WWE Superstars Austin Theory and Grayson Waller hurled insults at the 39-year-old singer. Jelly Roll left his front row seat and made his way to the ring, where he was joined by tag team duo The Miz and R-Truth. During his ESPN appearance, the singer spoke about What a surreal year! he has been.
“Man, I’m so in the moment. Man, I barely have a phone. I’m so present. The other day, McAfee and I were in the green room for about an hour, and I didn’t know neither of us had phones, no matter where we were,” Jelly Roll said. “I had the craziest time (with) Undertaker. It’s the craziest experience ever, right? I relate to all of you in that I’m living the craziest life ever. I mean, it’s absolutely ridiculous.”
