The minister responsible for sports said the government had no problem with Israel playing Ireland in the Nations League and accused those who called for a boycott of the matches of grabbing headlines.
A clear divide has emerged on the issue of the Ireland-Israel clash, with the FAI and Taoiseach, speaking on behalf of the Government, insisting that matches can go ahead as planned, home and away, in the autumn, while loud voices within football and in political circles have said the matches should not go ahead.
