Wisconsin stands to benefit greatly from Ohio StateRun for the 2024 College Football Playoff championship game.
First, Ohio State’s victory followed Michigan2023 title, giving the Big Ten back-to-back national champions. This streak further established the conference as the pinnacle of the sport.

Second, notably for Wisconsin, he raised the Big Ten’s bonus payout to $46 million, according to Front Office Sports. That total is evenly divided among the conference’s 18 members, giving Wisconsin a payout of $2.55 million.
The breakdown of the CFP bonus is as follows: $4 million for each team that makes the field, $4 million for each of the eight teams that make the quarterfinals, $6 million for the four semifinalists and 6 million dollars for the two finalists.
The Big Ten had four teams that made the field ($16 million), three made the quarterfinals ($12 million), two made the semifinals ($12 million) and one made the finals ($6 million). These totals added together create the final figure of $46 million.
There is one special circumstance to note: Notre Dame keeps its entire $20 million bonus, because it is independent and does not have a conference to share the bonus. Otherwise, these listed numbers are divided evenly among conference members.
Wisconsin finished far out of the CFP field in 2024 with a season-ending five-game losing streak and a final 5-7 record. He is still ready to benefit from the new structure. As the state of Ohio, Oregon, Penn State And Michigan competes for championships, programs like Wisconsin sit back and reap the financial rewards.
