The recruit of Memphis Grizzlies, Jaylen Wells, left the court on Tuesday on a stretcher after a blatant fault led him to land hard on the back during a Dunk attempt.

The game occurred on an escape in the second quarter of a match on the road against the Charlotte Hornets. Wells took the ball in front of each defender of the Hornets and had an easy dunk in front of him, but KJ Simpson, another recruit, crashed in his legs and let him land horizontally.

Simpson immediately moved to check if Wells was fine, but he remained motionless on the ground.

The crowd of the Spectrum Center was silent while the coaches took care of Wells. Simpson was evaluated a blatant fault of 2, which means that the officials considered it to have engaged “unnecessary and excessive contact” against Wells, and was automatically ejected from the game.

Wells received applause from the crowd when he drove from the field, his head and neck stabilized. He slowly raised one hand by entering the tunnel, let’s hope it, showing that its control of its ends remains intact.

Wells Fred’s father provided an update during the second half of the gameSaying that her son was “awake and alert”, with a swollen wrist and face, jaws and back pain. He would have undergone x -rays and computed tomography.

Wells entered Tuesday as one of the promising recruits of the 2024-25 class of the NBA, and perhaps its best story. After a university career shared between the state of Sonoma and the state of Washington, it was selected 39th in total in the draft of the NBA 2024 and carried out a rotation place for a candidate in the playoffs.

He had most of his impact as a defender, who stood out enough to a few observers I even presented it as a recruited candidate of the year. Finding a player like him in the second round of the draft was a huge victory for Memphis in a year that has had a few conflictAnd now they can only hope that he is not injured in a way that has assigned him beyond this season.
