(Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae) ○…”The tournament will be postponed to the Mediheal Championship in early May.”
This decision was made due to the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) on the US Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour. On the 21st (Korean time), it was officially announced that “the schedule of three tournaments – the Lotte Championship, originally scheduled for April 15, the Hugel-Air Premia LA Open (April 23-26) and the Mediheal Championship (April 30-May 3) – will be postponed”, adding that “this measure was taken into consideration various recommendations and guidelines from health organizations regarding COVID-19.”
In total, nine tournaments, including six scheduled from mid-February to early April, were disrupted. The next event is the Pelican Women’s Championship, which will be held on May 14 in Belleair, Florida, USA. The first major tournament of the season, the ANA Inspiration, originally scheduled for April 2, has been postponed and will now take place over four days starting September 10 at Rancho Mirage Golf Club in California, United States. The Cambia Portland Classic, which was scheduled to take place during this time, was moved a week later to September 17.
