NEW YORK (AP) — Gauthier cutter scored the go-ahead goal six minutes into the third period and got his second into an empty net, Lucas Dostal stopped 26 of 27 shots he faced and the Anaheim Ducks beat the New York Rangers 4-1 Monday night to end a two-game losing streak.
Gauthier’s first goal with one second left on a power play came from a perfectly placed pass from the rookie. Beckett Sennecke. Igor Shesterkin I barely had a chance to react.

Defender Jackson LaCombe scored Anaheim’s first shorthanded goal in the second period, scoring off a rebound after Jacob Trouba spring loaded Ryan Poehling on the ice late in the Rangers’ 5-on-3 power play. Dostal was brilliant at the other end of the ice, at one point making a foot save on JT Miller and slide to deny Vladislav Gavrikov immediately afterwards.
The Ducks scored a goal in the final seconds of Pavel Mintyukov and celebrated with Trouba and the veteran striker Chris Kreiderwho returned to play at Madison Square Garden for the first time since the Rangers sent them to Southern California in separate trades. Kreider and Trouba each greeted the crowd after tribute videos during the former’s downtime, while fans applauded.
Matthew Robertson scored the only goal for Rangers, who lost 12 of 16 home games. Robinson’s shot is deflected Frank Vatranoand jumped into the air before coming out of Dostal’s.
New York was without a center Mika Zibanejadwhich leads Mike Sullivan scratched for breaking a team rule by missing a meeting. Great winger Matt Rempe took Zibanejad’s place in the lineup, returning after missing 24 games since he was injured in a fight on October 23.
