Georgia Bulldogs freshman running back Jae Lamar was recently compared to the former Alabama Crimson Tide star RB Jase McClellan per 247Sports.
Lamar could quickly emerge with a central role in the Dawgs’ backfield in 2026. The star freshman is an elite running back with excellent speed and athleticism, as Lamar received interest from a multitude of programs around the SEC before committing to Georgia.

At 6-foot, 205 pounds, Lamar was nothing short of elite during his time at Colquitt County High School in Moultrie, Georgia, and thus the point guard finds himself as the newest member of the Dawgs backfield.

A four-star recruit, Lamar was ranked as the 17th running back and 210th overall player in the class of 2026, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He was ranked as the 24th player in Georgia. Lamar’s comparison to McClellan could be a great sign of what’s to come in the near future, as McClellan played a crucial role in Alabama’s offense during his time with the Tide. Lamar saved 1,900 total yards and 28 touchdowns throughout three seasons at Colquitt High, as the talented running back will now turn his full attention to his first season in Athens.
Georgia also continues to target various playmakers in the Class of 2027, with the Dawgs reportedly moving closer to the three-star linebacker. Joakim Gouda and five-star offensive lineman Mark Matthew. Georgia already has a 2027 commitment from five-star running back Kemon Spell.
