The Sooners’ 2021 football theme could have been “living on the edge.”
For the sixth time this season, OU played a one-possession game two years ago today. And for the sixth time, they found a way to win thanks to a fourth stop 15 seconds from the end of regulation time.
Justin Broiles deflected Brock Purdy’s 41st pass of the day, then returned it to the OU 3-yard line to save the 28-21 victory.
OU’s defense – dominant with pressure all afternoon – found a way to win.
“A lot of these guys have been in this situation before. Nothing surprises us. We saw that they were on their way and continued. We kept pushing and we managed to make a stop towards the end of the match,” said Nik Bonitto.
