Florida State finished an undefeated regular season by beating Louisville 16-6 in the ACC Championship, but now what?
The Seminoles are at the center of one of the most controversial topics in the College Football Playoff. Should Florida State advance to the national semifinals despite starting third-string quarterback Brock Glenn in the ACC Championship, or should the selection committee overlook the team for a loss to Alabama, in Texas or Georgia?
We are in uncharted territory when it comes to the CFP discussion. Typically an undefeated Power Five champion is locked into the top four, we haven’t seen a case where that hasn’t happened. However, Florida State has slumped offensively since losing star quarterback Jordan Travis to a torn ACL, opening the door for a Power Five champion with a loss to take his place.
The debate raged on social media all night following FSU’s title win and we’ll find out soon enough when the CFP is released at 12 p.m. EST.
While this is by no means predictive, sportsbooks are offering props for whether Florida State will get the CFP, and the odds are skewed the Seminoles’ way.
Florida State’s chances of making the College Football Playoff
However, we can see that there is a big drop in national championship odds as Florida State is not considered a real contender even if the Seminoles get the nod in the CFP.
