Kelsey Mitchell was the driving force behind Indiana fever during the year 2025 WNBA season. The 5-foot-8 guard played in all 44 regular season games, averaging a career-high 20.2 points on 45.6 percent shooting, 1.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 31.4 minutes per game. Mitchell also hit 2.5 triples per game at a 39.4% clip.
Mitchell has had to carry a significant load amid Fever’s injury crisis. Star Guard Caitlin Clark was limited to just 13 games before being ruled out for the latter part of the season with a groin injury. Sophie Cunningham and three other players also suffered season-ending injuries before the WNBA playoffs.

Mitchell led the Fever to the playoffs for the second straight season. They beat the Atlanta Dream in the first round. However, they were eliminated in the semi-finals after a tough five-game series against eventual champions the The Aces of Las Vegas.
Mitchell was unable to complete the series of Aces. She suffered an injury in Game 5 and did not return. The 30-year-old man was rushed to a nearby hospital and was later diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis, a muscle disease associated with excessive fatigue.

In a social media post, the Fever star described her injury as “numbness/paralysis feeling with no movement of my lower limbs for 5 to 7 seconds maximum.
Mitchell has since recovered from her worrying injury. The three-time All-Star is back on the court in the middle of the WNBA offseason. She plays in the second season of Unrivaled, an independent 3v3 league.
Mitchell’s campaign at Unrivaled got off to a rocky start. She is part of the Hive Basketball Club, an expansion team playing its first season. The Hive was 0-3 heading into Friday’s game against Rose BC, the defending league champion.

The All-WNBA guard also scored the game-winning basket to lead her team to a 78-75 victory. It was Rose BC’s first loss this season and it spoiled a 36-point night against Rose’s Chelsea Grey.
The Fever took to social media to announce Mitchell’s latest milestone.
“Kelsey Mitchell scored the game-winning basket for Team Hive’s first ever win 🐝🔥,” the team posted on Instagram.
