One of the most respected names in football, Cristiano Ronaldorecently drew a parallel between himself and the tennis legend Novak DjokovicSports careers. Both veterans in their fieldafter overcoming adversity and competition from other tough competitors over the past two decades.

Last Sunday, Djokovic was in Dubai, United Arab Emirates to attend the 16th edition of the Global Soccer Awards, where he was named the winner of the Globe Sports Award. As Ronaldo presented the award to Djokovic, he praised on the 24-time Grand Slam champion. Reflecting on their past and their journey (according to SportsKeeda), Ronaldo claimed that they “both had a similar background.”
“I think so, I don’t want to talk too much, I prefer not to talk, but for me it’s his example. When you have people as an example, he says the words that come on their own. So for me he is an example of longevity. We have a similar story,” Ronaldo continued. “So I think he deserves (the award) because he is a great example for this generation, all generations, the generation (that) is coming. So he deserves that.”
Ronaldo and Djokovic are two of the most famous sports icons. With Ronaldo currently approaching the 1000 goal mark, the Serbian tennis player is arguably one of the most successful tennis players.

Recently present at the World Sports Summit in Madinat Jumeirah, the 38-year-old Djokovic spoke about his retirement plans when asked about it.

“I keep going. I love hitting the tennis ball. And I love competing,” he said. “As long as you really feel like you’re playing at a high level and your body is holding up, why not?”
He was last active during his victory at the ATP 250 in Athens, Greece, when he defeated Lorenzo Musetti in the final.
