Among the six themed evenings announced on April 24, the one to mark on your calendar would be the Lindsay Whalen evening on August 23, when the Sun will face the Las Vegas Aces at 7:30 p.m. Whalen’s number 13 will be raised in the rafters and former players and other special guests will be there to help him celebrate.

Whalen was drafted with the fourth overall pick in 2004 and in her six seasons, she led the team to the playoffs five times, including two trips to the WNBA Finals. During her time at Uncasville, she averaged 11.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.9 assists in 29.4 minutes per game.

The Sun has also announced five further themed evenings which are set to take place between June and September.

On June 16, the Sun will celebrate the incredibly strong women in the community with the Burn it Down game, June 16 when the team takes on the Seattle Storm at 3:30 p.m. The game will honor elected officials from all areas of Connecticut government and burn old stereotypes. The game will also feature all-female entertainment, including the national anthem and halftime show.

On July 6, the Sun will celebrate first responders and military personnel on Local Heroes Day when the team takes on the Minnesota Lynx at 2 p.m.

On July 12, the Sun will celebrate the LGBTQ+ community on Pride Night when the team hosts the Phoenix Mercury at 8 p.m. The team will host a post-game pride panel that will feature players, entertainment stars and local celebrities.

The Sun will honor both survivors and those who have lost their battle with breast cancer during the Rock the Pink weekend which includes matches on August 16 and 18. The teams will wear special uniforms and raise awareness about breast health. The Sun will face the Storm on August 16 at 7:30 p.m. and the Dallas Wings on August 18 at 3 p.m.

The Sun will close out their regular season at home against the Chicago Sky at 7:30 p.m. on September 6 while celebrating Fan Appreciation Night.
