College GameDay Announces New Theme Song Singers – OutKick

College GameDay tapped some major names for the event’s theme song.

ESPN production had used Great and rich hit song “Comin’ to Your City” for years. Every time you heard the song you thought of Match day.

Every time you watched GameDay and this happened, you knew it was going to be a good Saturday. Then, without any real explanation, Big & Rich announcement they were out and someone would take over in the future.

College GameDay announces a new lineup of theme songs.

Now, GameDay has revealed who will replace Big & Rich, and it’s a very strong lineup consisting of Darius Rucker, Lainey Wilson and The Cadillac Three.

There’s just one problem. GameDay announced that the combined group would sing “the latest version of ‘Comin’ To Your City'” this year.

So how should this be interpreted? Did GameDay abandon Big & Rich and then hire people to sing pretty much the exact same music?

If so, that only makes me believe that the decision had nothing to do with the music and was instead about John Rich policy.

I attempted to seek clarification on this matter from all parties involved last week, but got nowhere. You can watch the promo below.

What is ESPN doing?

Let me be clear, I really enjoy all of these musical acts. Rucker, Wilson and The Cadillac Three are all great. This is about the best programming ESPN could have hoped for.

Rucker is a legend, Wilson is one of country music’s fastest rising stars, and the stars of “Yellowstone” and The Cadillac Three are a great alt-country act.

It’s a solid lineup, but what’s the point of it? Why break up with Big & Rich and then bring in other big names to sing a modified version of “Comin’ to Your City”? This makes no sense, and again, I say this as someone who loves them all.

Rucker’s version of “Wagon Wheel” is incredible, but that doesn’t mean he should be there. College Game Day on Big & Rich.

This is a very bizarre situation and makes absolutely no sense. Maybe the decision will be explained next Saturday, but I’m certainly not counting on that.
