The Browns’ offensive line is the biggest uncertainty on Todd Monken roster heading into free agency. Although some players like Wyatt Teller have indicated that they will not return, we are still waiting to hear from the others. One of the guys who hasn’t been a long-time starter on the team, but is about to hit the open market, is Cam Robinson.
How and when they joined the Browns
When Dawand Jones suffered a season-ending injury last year, the Browns went out and acquired a veteran offensive tackle Cam Robinson. Robinson was originally a second-round pick of the Jaguars in 2017 and signed a one-year deal worth $12 million with the Texans last offseason. In late September, the Browns traded a 2027 sixth-round pick for him, in an attempt to salvage the position.
Productivity level last season and what the Browns should do
Robinson did what he needed to do last season rep-wise, starting 12 games. He was hit several times mid-match, but eventually came back.

Unfortunately, Robinson’s production was disappointing most of the time. While he doesn’t have a ton of pass blocking compared to other offensive linemen, he still ranks among the worst in the league in pressures and sacks allowed. Penalties also seemed to be a frequent problem for him.
I think it made sense to acquire Robinson last year, but it didn’t work out. The team has holes across the board, but re-signing Robinson doesn’t help them improve. The team hopes to have Dawand Jones back in the fold as he returns from injury, although it’s unclear whether he would fit in at right tackle while the team invests in a left tackle throughout the draft.
