With the Next Gen NASCAR cars, it will take some time to resolve the issues. One of the biggest problems plaguing the sport is the frequency of punctures. Added to this is the method used by NASCAR to recover the cars. It turns out that the method currently used is to tow the car to the pits. Unfortunately, this increases the chances of damaging cars even more, and none of the drivers like that.

NASCAR will continue to use the same procedure regarding flat tires (towing the driver to the pits) this week. No changes to the cars yet to address this (I don’t think anything will change until Atlanta at the earliest).

Now, it seems fans agree with the drivers. This procedure was in effect at Auto Club Speedway this past weekend, and many quickly discovered it was a bad idea. Some fans noted that with the intensive amount of testing the drivers did, they would have fixed the issue. However, it seemed like the puncture issue hadn’t surfaced until now, catching everyone off guard.
How have NASCAR fans reacted to this issue?
Some fans replied“Classic NASCAR is ignoring a glaring issue that several parties raised during testing and finds itself caught flat-footed without a solution with the season already underway. I guess they thought the problem would magically resolve itself?”
A simple puncture always had the chance of causing drivers to lose several laps.

You would think that with the testing they did before the season started, they would have known this was a problem before the season started and would have already taken corrective action!

I have to say it’s disappointing. I know it takes time, but that was the worst part of last week’s race. Just because someone gets a flat tire doesn’t mean it should be a death sentence for their day.

Meanwhile, a few others recalled when teams were often black flagged for technical infractions. One example was when NASCAR introduced a new fuel gun for teams. With the sport’s rules tightening around modifying new products, there was a chance these guns would break. Naturally, this would lead to drivers leaving pit road with loose lug nuts and looming penalties.
1. Imagine having an apartment in Bristol? By the time they hook you up, take you to pit road, unhook you and then change tires, you would be over 8 laps behind. Normally you would lose 2, maybe 3 if you bring it back yourself. This is something that needs to be fixed.

2. This is going to cost someone a playoff spot or a championship if this continues. Either have a mobile team to change the tires on site so they can get to pit road, or have a fixed penalty like 2 laps no matter how long it takes to get towed to pit road stands.

Some fans have proposed solutions to the problems plaguing pilots. One response read: “They should race on clay. the car has a flat tire, it needs to be towed to the pits once the car arrives on pit road, you have to repair the tires in 2 minutes, make the repairs without losing a lap until They understood this disorder. Delaying 4-6 laps because of a NASCAR error is a heavy penalty!»

Unfortunately, it appears that a proper solution will not materialize for some time. Fans and drivers want to see the sport do something about the problem.
