THE Vancouver Canucks are holding their breath over the status of goalkeeper Thatcher Demko.
The star goaltender left the game abruptly midway through the second period and went straight to the locker room. He was replaced by backup Casey DeSmith.

It’s not clear what happened. Demko made several calm saves in the minutes before his departure. He appears to show some discomfort, but the cause is unclear.
Canucks coaches who returned to the press box after intermission put on an upbeat appearance, masking any concerns they might have about Demko’s status.
When asked about Demko’s status, a team spokesperson said the goalkeeper would not return to the game.

After the Canucks’ 5-0 victoryhead coach Rick Tocchet didn’t have a real update either.
“I don’t think it’s too serious but I don’t know,” Tocchet said.
He later told Glacier Media’s Daniel Wagner that he thought Demko’s injury was just a “fluke.”
General manager Patrik Allvin was on Hockey Night in Canada’s After Hours show but said he also had no information on Demko’s status.
