Miller will play his 800th career game this evening. The center is entering his sixth season with the Canucks, for whom he has played the most games during his career. Originally drafted in 2011 by the New York Rangers, the forward played five seasons for New York and two with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
“The older I get, the more I respect guys who can play long,” Miller told reporters. (I feel) super fortunate (and) fortunate, especially from a health standpoint, to play so many games. There was a time, 10 or 11 years ago, when I was just trying to make the lineup. I feel very, very lucky to be where I am.”

Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet praised last season’s leading point scorer, and it wasn’t just about his play on the ice.
“He’s always trying to get better every day, physically and mentally. His approach to the game and how can he be better? Off and on the ice, when it comes to the game, I have a lot of respect for him. ” said Tocchet. “He’s changed as a person. At the age of 23 or 24, he comes to the rink early. He watches videos. He comes to camp in great shape. He wants the power play to be good. He wants to work on his own defensive part of the game. He’ll go get a coach to watch the video, I think he’s one of those guys that really wants to apply himself.
The Canucks take on the Flames in the season opener hoping to build on last season’s tremendous success.
