Bills QB Allen hilariously roots against Dodgers as a Giants fan originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills quarterback just became a Giants fan favorite.
While speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Allen not only admitted that, Unlike Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr, he grew up a Giants fan, but that the two-time NFL Pro Bowl selection is also rooting against the Los Angeles Dodgers as they take on the New York Yankees in the 2024 World Series.
“Um…I’m a fan of whoever plays the Dodgers,” Allen hilariously revealed Wednesday (with ABC 7 Buffalo’s Matthew Bové). “I grew up being a Giants fan. I still like the (Toronto) Blue Jays. We support the underdogs. Obviously we’re the only (soccer) team in New York, so we support our local teams. I must love it.
“I hope they (the Yankees) can claw their way back into this thing.”
Allen grew up in the small town of Firebaugh in California’s Central Valley. Oracle Park is approximately 150 miles away.
The 28-year-old has previously mentioned his Giants fandom, particularly the time he received an autograph of the legend of the giants and new president of baseball operations Buster Posey — that Allen accidentally stained.
The Buffalo signal-caller attended Game 4 of the 2024 World Series with his fellow Bills quarterbacks. He was happy that New York came out on top and hopes the Yankees prevent the Dodgers from being the last team standing.
“We went to the game as a group of quarterbacks,” Allen said. “(Bills backup QB) Mike White is a huge Yankees fan. I wanted to give the boys something nice, they’ve helped me in the quarterback room all year. It’s something we’ve talked about and pulled the trigger on; decided to take a little trip there (Yankee Stadium) and came back in time for the meetings. So it was good.
Los Angeles leads New York 3-1, heading into Game 5 at 5:08 p.m. PT. There is no doubt who Allen supports.
